Beginning Spray Painting

Have you ever wanted to use spray paint to make art? If so, you probably have lots of questions, are afraid of screwing up, and spending WAY too much money, right? AND there's a good chance you don't have a good place to practice this sort of art. WELLLL... In this 2 Session/4 hour course, you'll learn lots of great techniques to get you started. You'll come home with a painting that you create in class AND you'll have a ton of new skills that you'll want to keep practicing. In the first session, we'll create a landscape painting created in the style of many artists who you've seen paint on the street side in places like Mexico, California, and New York or maybe just youtube. The second session will focus on the skills necessary to create your first graffiti style word piece. You'll design and create your own piece with the guidance of a skilled teacher to help you along the way. AAAAAND, during our second session we'll take a short field trip to see some of the best spray paint pieces in Seattle which will leave you inspired by our local masters with some insight on their process. You'll get a chance to paint, explore, and learn this intimidating medium with some step by step guidance joined by a small class of only 2 other students at a time. You can even enroll in this class with a couple friends and have this bonding experience together! MOST SUPPLIES ARE INCLUDED WITH THE CLASS FEE. Respirators are required and can be: used respirator rented from the teacher, you can bring your own, OR a new one will be ordered for you to use in class and added to your class fee. ($20) About the teacher: Sam Trout is an artist who's been creating professionally for over 20 years. He's guided several students through a variety of processes over the years. He's created public murals, installations, created and distributed his own t-shirt line, created 100s of illustrations for newspapers and magazines, and has created several fine art pieces on commission.
